Course Objectives

The objective of the Computer Architecture 02 module is to strengthen students’ knowledge of the essential components of a computer system, with a primary focus on memory and input/output processes.

The course begins with a presentation of the different types of memory, explaining their crucial importance in information storage and processing. Students explore memory types such as RAM, ROM, and SAM, and become familiar with their characteristics, performance, and applications. Particular emphasis is placed on data structures such as FIFO and LIFO, which are essential for data management in SAM memory.

The second section of the course focuses on input/output (I/O) systems. It introduces the various devices and communication techniques used between the processor, memory, and external devices. Students examine in depth different data transfer methods, including Programmed I/O and Direct Memory Access (DMA), in order to understand their benefits, limitations, and practical applications.

The module focuses on operational principles, performance evaluation, and practical implementations in contemporary computer systems, particularly in the areas of low-level programming and system design.
